Intervention Models
We believe that for young people to transition successfully into adulthood and become responsible citizens, they need guidance and intervention that develops them to communicate and act responsibly in the community. Our intervention is modelled around the Plummers Model of Intervention. We believe that a number of facets such as social skills, connectedness, family, safe living environment, education, health and wellness contribute to the wellbeing of a young person and developing these facets is critical for their personal growth and realization of their potential.
For young people who go through difficult challenges and experiences and tend to display risky behaviours, we will provide support for them to access cognitive behavior therapy that will enable them to understand the challenges they are facing and how to deal with them.
Young people who go through traumatic experiences such as war, and abuse may become reserved and uncommunicative and we will use the Adversity and Trauma Informed Practice (TIP) developed by Young Minds to intervene by building trust and creating an environment that emphasizes physical, psychological and emotional safety for victims of trauma.
Our Psychological support will be based on the following approach.
- Providing non-intrusive practical care and support, by assessing needs and concerns.
- Helping young people to address the areas of need.
- Communicating effectively by listening and not pressuring them to talk.
- Comforting young people in crisis and helping them to feel calm;
- Helping people connect to information, services, and social supports.
- Protecting young people from further harm by referring them to specialist services through the local authority.
- Helping young people on suffering ill health to keep to their medication their regime.
