Consultation With Young People
Communication is vital to understanding the needs of our young service users. Our staff will be trained to understand what the service users are saying to them. We will also work closely with speech therapists, psychologists to help us fully understand the needs of our service users and how to improve and make our service users understand the work we do and to work with us to achieve their goals.
We will use various communication methods to feedback on issues that matter to them, concerns, and compliments. The scheme manager and directors will act on any, matter of concern promptly and within our response times guidelines.
On a day to day basis our staff will speak to young people during their care plan reviews to understand how they want to be engaged and involved. Our style of support focuses on the individual and seeks to address the need through interactive and participatory engagement that helps the individual to manage or deal with the challenge.
We will create an environment of trust, respect, assurance and confidence so that we understand the personal and emotional needs of our service users and deliver a service that best meets those needs. We will support our service users to choose how they want to be involved and to take part in their community. This involves participation in sports, shopping, volunteering, employment, and other activities of their choice. We will provide various feedback mechanisms such as service user and staff meetings, resident forums, surveys, suggestion boxes, and online feedback for service users and staff.
At the point when a referral is made, the service manager will collect all information regarding the service user in terms of their life goals, their beliefs, what they consider as barriers to achieving their goals, and what informs their cultural views. This information is vital designing their care plan and developing a care pathway for them. Key work sessions will be a key part in reviewing their care plans and adjusting the care plans to suit the needs of the service user. Our staff are trained to communicate effectively by listening to the preferences and needs of young people including their preferences towards career choices, what to wear, what they like eating, health related matters, education, sports and recreation and the living space.
